I am fascinated with patterns: patterns of nature and of life. I like to combine my love of nature and the mountains of East TN with bits and pieces of other things I love such as music and old dictionary pages and bird images. My art involves many layers that represent layers of meaning to me and to the viewer.
I have developed many of the processes that I use, especially the cast paper leaf, which I make using a real leaf as the mold. I also carve many of the stamps that I use to pattern my papers. I rarely use any paper that I have not painted or altered in some way.
I think art should be fun, beautiful, and it should touch the viewer’s soul in some way. The best compliment I am paid is when people say they see something different every time they look at my artworks.
I truly enjoy the wonder and diversity of life. I hope you enjoy the artwork.
